The Nursery Team
This term Butterflies have been meeting new people and making lots of friends.
We have been learning new skills such as sharing and how to keep clean when going to the bathroom. After the holiday we then explored snow in lots of fun ways. We made a snow cave in our role play area, looked at the different animals who live in the snow, explored the texture and temperature of snow and made our own snowman using various resources such as boxes, twigs, a hat and scarf. Then we had lots of fun getting our room ready for Christmas including decorating our Christmas tree.
Our topic for Autumn term in Dragonflies was ‘where does snow go?’. This topic enabled children to develop their curiosity, understanding, knowledge and imagination about Autumn.
Our starting point was observing the changes in the outdoor environment. Children then went onto learning about how plants and animals adapt to the changing season. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about hibernation and the ways that animals and birds adapt for winter. We looked at how animals and humans adapt to the cold weather, including keeping safe and keeping warm.
For our “Talk For Writing” we have been looking at a story called “Snow Bear”, including Pie Corbett actions. Children developed a good understanding of sharing, turn taking, playing together, building relationships and developing relationships.
